December 6 — NextWave Systems has released PrintWeaver 3.1, a Java printing solution that extends the current J2SE (Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition) 1.4 print mechanism. The tool prints down and across any number of pages, automatically adjusts to any paper size, allows batch printing, row and column totals, report breaks, and page numbering, and more.

Starlasoft updates JLAN Server

Thuraya phones receive J2ME boost

December 6 — Through a license with Insignia Solutions, Hughes Network Systems will incorporate Java into its Thuraya mobile satellite/GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) handheld phones. With Insignia’s Mobile Foundation Java-enabling software platform, HNS phones will be able to download and run J2ME (Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition) mobile services.

New JSP tag library now available

December 6 — The Devsphere XML Tag Library is a free open source JSP (JavaServer Pages) tag library that provides XML output and XML processing features complementary to JSTL (JSP Standard Tag Library). The library is based on JSP 1.2, JSTL 1.0, JAXP (Java API for XML Processing) 1.1, SAX (Simple API for XML) 2.0, and DOM (Document Object Model) Level 2.

November 15 — Thought Inc. has updated CocoBase Enterprise O/R 4.5 with Dynamic Universal Querying, a querying system for issuing queries with EJB-QL (Enterprise JavaBean Query Language) across all Java platforms.
