Word is that Canonical is seriously considering using Sun’s Glassfish as the Java EE framework that will ship with Ubuntu Linux. This is a glimpse into the world that Sun has created by making Java open source: even though it invented the language, it would actually be a coup for it to get its own Java EE implementation into a major Linux distro. For free, too, I’m assuming. At a certain point, Java will cease to be Sun’s baby, and they’ll just have to hope that the language’s DNA puts them in the best position to make money off of it. Will it? Software DevelopmentOpen SourceLinux
