XML inventor, tireless REST advocate, and Sun Director of Web technologies Tim Bray continues to wax gleeful about the coming chaotic future in which organizations will have to somehow integrate or at least make sense of code for internal apps written in Java, C#, Python, Ruby on Rails, and eleventy billion other languages. In the meantime, he has this to say about how Sun sees this market: “We sell stuff at Sun and if developers want to build in Rails, then we want to be their friends — so when it comes time to deploy, they’ll deploy on Sun.” OK, so, different divisions within large company having different goals = not news, but this sort of thing has got to make the Java folks cry a little bit, doesn’t it?
