HP introduces new OpenView tools

June 13 — The new HP OpenView tools are targeted to developers using the Eclipse IDE. HP OpenView Internet Usage Manager (IUM) collects network, system, and service usage data and automates its analysis. HP OpenView IUM Component Development Environment simplifies the creation, editing, testing, debugging, and deployment of IUM components.

Borland launches life cycle management suite

June 13 — Borland Enterprise Studio 6 for Java integrates all of Borland Software’s development products into one application life cycle management tool. Studio 6 bundles CaliberRM, the Together Edition for JBuilder 6.1, JBuilder 9, Optimizeit Suite 5.5, Enterprise Server 5.2, JDataStore 6, and StarTeam.

Oracle launches free portal service

June 13 — The Oracle Portal Verification Service is now available online from Oracle. The service lets corporate portal developers and ISVs test the interoperability of Web-based content and applications on a hosted portal environment that supports the latest Java and Web services standards for interoperable portal development.

Jump platform propels J2ME apps to devices

Parasoft debuts integrated error-prevention package

June 13 — Parasoft has launched Parasoft Java Solution, a suite of automated tools, services, and best practices for preventing errors in Java applications. The tool integrates error prevention and monitoring techniques into the life cycle of a Java development project. It combines source control and nightly build systems with preventative techniques, such as coding standards, static analysis, unit testing, and regression testing, to find and prevent development errors.

Ilog releases JRules 4.5

June 13 — JRules 4.5 is the latest Java business rule management tool from Ilog. Version 4.5 features include support for business process management and Web services.

June 13 — Quest Software has released the latest version of its server-side Java components. JClass ServerViews 4.0’s new design tools speed and simplify the development of charts for J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) and server-side Java applications. The product lets Web content creators visually design charts without knowing XML or Java programming.

June 13 — ReportingEngines has introduced the Formula One product line, a collection of Java reporting components. FirstSQL updates O/R database system
