Iona releases three new products

Iona has updated its iPortal Application Server to version 3.0. The updated product combines Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition standard conformance and extreme programming features with application integration and Web service generation tools. In addition, Iona has released the B2B Integrator, a business-to-business integration solution; Iona Enterprise Integration, an application-to-application integration solution, is also now available from the company.

The Versant Corporation has now made Versant enJin 2.1 available. Hywy launches two versions of its productivity environments

With Pope.J Basic and Pope.J Basic Plus from Hywy, developers can map out applications and automatically generate Java code. Pope.J Basic supports object modeling, generation and regeneration of Java applets and servlets, and object persistence for text files. Pope.J Basic Plus adds support for MySQL and Apache Tomcat.

Versata Logic Server will support WebSphere

The Versata Logic Server was designed to simplify the development of Enterprise JavaBeans and other components of large Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition applications. Its next major release, scheduled for the second half of 2001, will support IBM’s WebSphere Application Server, Advanced Edition 4.0. In addition, Versata has announced planned support for the IBM WebSphere Studio initiative.

Motorola introduces GUI extension for J2ME implementations

Motorola has designed its new Lightweight Windowing Toolkit (LWT) to enhance GUIs for Java-enabled wireless products. Developers can add the LWT to any Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) implementation that complies with the Mobile Information Device Profile specification.

PointBase releases 45 KB SQL-relational database

PointBase Micro is a new SQL-relational database with a footprint smaller than 45 KB. Written in Java, the database supports the Java 2 Platform, Micro and Standard Editions. It also uses a subset of Java Database Connectivity technology as the API.
