Iona releases XMLBus 1.2.0

The Iona XMLBus allows developers to build Web services from Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) applications running on the Iona iPortal, BEA WebLogic, or IBM WebSphere application servers. IONA has tested XMLBus with nine Web service implementations, including Microsoft’s .Net and SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) Toolkit. With XMLBus, J2EE environments can use Web services created in .Net and vice versa.

Quadbase delivers Java-based reporting tool

EspressReport version 1.1 is now available from Quadbase Systems. Written in pure Java, this reporting tool allows users to develop and deploy reports across any platform. The reporting engine can generate Web or print ready content on the fly, and stream it directly to the client, or store canned reports on the server.

Reactor 5.0 now compliant with WebSphere

Oak Grove Systems has released Reactor 5.0, a XML-driven workflow engine based on Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition. Now compatible with IBM’s WebSphere, Reactor 5 offers a suite of tools for the rapid development of process layers within enterprise Java applications.

ArsDigita updates Web application development solution

The ArsDigita Community System (ACS) version 4.6 Java is now available from ArsDigita. ACS 4.6 is an open source Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition-compliant application framework for developing content-intensive Web applications. Version 4.6 includes the ACS Core, which serves as a foundation for all ACS-backed Web applications, and an integrated application for content management.

Servertec releases Java-based database engine

Servertec Persistent Object Store (POS) is a high-performance cross-platform object-oriented database engine written entirely in Java. It’s designed to allow developers to easily create standalone database applications, including mobile and wireless devices and embedded systems. POS can be used on any platform that supports Java version 1.1.x or higher.

Aligo and Yospace form partnership

Aligo, a provider of mobile application servers, will bundle the Yospace SmartPhone Emulator JavaBean Edition into version 2.0 of its M-1 Server. With the embedded Yospace emulator, developers using the M-1 Server can preview and test their applications with a variety of mobile devices. Version 2.0 also includes an application builder, a device profile manager, and a new session manager.

Cape Clear Software has added support for the iPlanet Application Server to CapeConnect, the company’s Web services platform. In addition, CapeConnect now features updated interoperability with other SOAP-enabled products, an enhanced SOAP client builder, and CapeStudio, a rapid application development tool for Web services.

NeuVis Software and Oracle partner for J2EE development

Thorough a partnership with Oracle Corporation, NeuVis Software’s NeuArchitect will now create and deploy Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) applications on Oracle9i Application Server (Oracle9iAS) and Oracle9i Database. NeuArchitect offers a model-driven development environment for creating Web, wireless, XML, and Web services applications. From these models, NeuArchitect’s code construction system automatically creates complete e-business applications for deployment on Oracle9iAS.

BEA releases WebLogic Server 6.1

The new WebLogic Server 6.1 from BEA Systems provides automatic code generation of new and existing Java applications into Web services. This latest release supports Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Web Services Description Language (WSDL), and Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration (UDDI). In addition, BEA WebLogic Server 6.1 integrates Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition and Web services by enabling developers to automatically deploy Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs) as Web services with no additional programming.

Kinecta expands J2EE support

The Kinecta Syndication Server content distribution platform is an enterprise-scale application that currently supports portions of the Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition (J2EE) suite, including JavaServer Pages, servlet engines, and Java Database Connectivity technologies. Kinecta now extends this support by enabling integration with J2EE application sever vendors, including BEA, IBM, and Oracle. The Kinecta solution will also support Enterprise JavaBeans 2.0, Java Naming and Directory Interface, and Java Authentication and Authorization Services.

Codemesh releases JunC++ion 1.1

Version 1.1 of Codemesh’s JunC++ion is now available for both Windows and Solaris. JunC++ion integrates C++ and Java; it can move C++ clients into Enterprise JavaBeans environments without porting, Web-enable C++ applications without using interface languages, and integrate Java and C++ servers without middleware.

CocoBase integrates with JBuilder

CocoBase Enterprise O/R, Thought Inc.’s object-to-relational-mapping technology, is now included in JBuilder 5, Borland Software’s integrated development environment. CocoBase integrates relational data with Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) applications.
