SilverStream releases development environment for Web services apps

SilverStream Software has launched SilverStream eXtend Composer 3.0 and SilverStream eXtend Director 3.0. eXtend is an integrated services environment for the development and deployment of Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition-based Web services-oriented applications. eXtend Composer creates Web-enabled business functions from enterprise information sources into standards-based Web services. And eXtend Director consumes Web services and delivers them to systems, users, or devices.

Idetix ships Revize 3.5

Revize from Idetix Software Systems is Java-based content management software that allows nontechnical editors to manage content and workflow in a management-controlled environment. IBM updates Web Services Toolkit

IBM’s Web Services Toolkit (WSTK) 2.4 is now available for download. The WSTK provides a runtime environment, examples to design and execute Web services, and introductory material. WSTK functions are based on SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol), WSDL (Web Services Description Language), and UDDI (Universal Description Discovery and Integration) and run on both Linux and Windows operating systems.

Denwa certifies Pingtel expressa phone

Denwa Communications has certified the Pingtel expressa phone to operate on the company’s Session Initiation Protocol-based IP service. Pingtel expressa is a Java-based phone that provides a platform for IP voice service providers.

Aligo partners with various J2EE vendors

Aligo has joined the Borland Business Technology Partner Program, the IBM Business Partner program, the Oracle Partner Program, the SilverStream ISV program, and the Sun Developer Connection. By joining these programs, Aligo hopes to ensure that Aligo’s M-1 Mobile Application Server 2.0 can integrate with Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition applications.

SavaJe launches SavaJe Partner Program

SavaJe has formed a partner program to offer customers Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition (J2SE) services based on the SavaJe XE operating system. Scheduled for an October release, SavaJe XE enables Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition Connected Device Configuration (J2ME CDC) and J2SE apps to run on devices. Empirix updates Bean-test

O’Reilly releases Java & XML, Second Edition

Java & XML, Second Edition by Brett McLaughlin focuses on using XML from Java applications. The new edition adds chapters on Advanced SAX (Simple API for XML) and Advanced DOM (Document Object Model), and new chapters on SOAP (Simple Object Access Protocol) and data binding.

Sims Computing updates enterprise job scheduler

Flux 3.1 from Sims Computing is a software component that provides job-scheduling functionality to Java and Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition applications. Version 3.1’s improvements include a Web-based management console for administering Flux from a browser and support for interacting with Flux using XML.

Commercial release of CapeStudio now available

CapeStudio from Cape Clear Software automatically generates code for Java or Visual Basic from Web services description language (WSDL) files. OC Systems launches a “flight recorder” for Windows

OC Systems has introduced the Windows 2000/NT/XP version of RootCause, software that helps find the cause of Java application failures. Like an airplane flight recorder, RootCause continually records data about a program’s execution as it runs. When a problem or failure occurs, the collected information transmits to support staff via email or FTP. With this information, support developers can walk through the operations that led to the problem and identify its cause.

Softwired adds wireless functionality to WebLogic-based apps

Softwired has integrated its iBus//Mobile Java platform into BEA’s WebLogic Server. This JMS-based (Java Message Service) wireless platform allows mobile applications to directly connect to WebLogic through various wireless protocols. iBus//Mobile also offers encryption, store-and-forward messaging to cater for loss of network coverage, an XML message transformation engine, and HTTP proxy.
