Good old news

This one is not about Java itself, but might be helpful to those who are trying to be up on the latest trends. As you know lots of communication in opensource world is done on mailing lists. You also know that reading mailing lists with your favorite mail application is not a very good idea, as it requires too much effort to organize the mail traffic with it. I’ve always been an NNTP fan, I find it a perfect tool designed to work with threaded messages. Partly because it doesn’t have avatars, stupid icons, etc 🙂 It was a real pleasure for me to find out about the service of my dreams – mailing list to NNTP gate – news.gmane.org. It made me happy to see that their service really does work – I was even able to create a new newsgroup there for the list that was missing – ant4eclipse. Now I can enjoy threaded messages from the mailing lists inside my favorite newsreader! Are there any NNTP fans around here?
