SolarMetric expands Kodo’s enterprise abilities

March 8 — Kodo JDO (Java Data Objects) Enterprise Edition 2.2, a tool for accessing relational databases, is now available from SolarMetric. Version 2.2 offers increased integration with J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) application servers, such as WebSphere, BEA WebLogic Server, and JBoss.

WebLogic EJBs can now access ZeoSphere Server

March 8 — Zeosoft has integrated ZeoSphere, its on-demand mobile server, with BEA WebLogic Server. Now, Java-based applications can wirelessly communicate with the ZeoSphere Server running on mobile devices. The ZeoSphere Enterprise Proxy makes Enterprise JavaBeans (EJBs) from a WebLogic application directly accessible to ZeoSphere Server.

Metrowerks opens wireless development centers

March 8 — Metrowerks now offers live testing facilities to wireless application developers, handset manufacturers, and middleware vendors. The wireless development centers provide access to Metrowerks’ CDMA (Code Division Multiple Access), GSM (Global System for Mobile Communications) (2G), and GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) (2.5G) services.

Motorola and HillCast Technologies bring financial news to Java phones

March 8 — MidCast V1 is a network-enabled Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME) -based financial application for Motorola’s iDEN networks. Delivered by Motorola and HillCast Technologies, the application streams continuous, real-time financial market information to Java-enabled mobile phones.

Transvirtual Technologies launches Web services engine

March 8 — Transvirtual Technologies has introduced XOE, an enterprise Web services engine that supports Windows XP, Linux, and Java. MKS integrates with WebSphere IDEs

March 8 — MKS has integrated MKS Source Integrity Enterprise with WebSphere Studio Application Developer and WebSphere Studio Site Developer. IBM WebSphere developers now have advanced software configuration management abilities. Developers have access to such capabilities as check in/out; create project; create sandbox (private developer workspace); and file merge/compare.

O’Reilly publishes Web Services Essentials

March 1 — In Web Services Essentials, Ethan Cerami explores four technologies used in Web services development: XML Remote Procedure Calls (XML-RPC), Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP), Universal Discovery, Description, and Integration (UDDI), and Web Services Description Language (WSDL). The book provides Java tutorials, sample code, XML document samples, and explanations of the free Java APIs used in Web services creation.

BCT Technology launches “Napster” for code

February 22 — BCF Technology has launched the Site Raider.com Website and Site Raider 1.0 Web development tool. Site Raider allows developers to incorporate content or data from Web applications or sites for which they have appropriate access rights. Site Raider works as an aggregator, an analysis tool, and a code generator.
