SIP of Android

I was skeptical about Google Android G1 phone in my previous posts. One of the major disappointments about it was the lack of SIP implementation. Today I got cheered up as I made my first SIP call from this phone. I used the Sipdroid application available from the Market. Of course it was not that easy to make it work with my SIP provider. Sipdroid refused to work with my provider (voipcheap.com) directly. But they recommended to register with pbxes.com (for free) which I did, and to create a trunk connected to my SIP provider which worked fine. Sound quality was very good indeed. So, to make SIP calls from Android G1 phone with Sipdroid: 1. Register with pbxes.com. 2. Create an extension (anything you like), trunk (connected to your provider), inbound and outbound routings 3. In Sipdroid settings enter pbxes.com extension’s(!!!) login in form <pbxeslogin>-<extension> and extension’s(!!!) password 4. Make your calls!
