IBM opens Cloudscape

IBM has announced that it is contributing “Derby,” a copy of its Cloudscape relational database product to the Apache Software Foundation. IBM’s goal with this release is to offer developers and customers a new option for Java-based embedded database functionality.

Chart FX for Java now available

Software FX is now shipping Chart FX for Java, a Java component that uses a J2EE application server and JavaServer Pages technology to produce charts in a variety of formats. Chart FX includes advanced visual attributes, runs on most popular Java application servers, is available as a server-side bean, and runs in “headless” mode.
