Rajasthan kicks off first statewide deployment of wireless broadband infrastructure in India The Indian state of Rajasthan has started to take delivery of wireless broadband equipment for construction of a statewide wireless network, Motorola Inc. announced Monday.The network project, using Motorola’s MOTOWi4 Canopy technology, is the first statewide deployment of wireless broadband infrastructure in India, according to the company. The network will be the wireless backbone for the state, used by 10,000 village councils across the state, it said. The network will also provide Internet to people in rural locations of Rajasthan, it added.Motorola has been pitching Canopy, an always-on, high-speed broadband technology, as suited for providing IP (Internet Protocol) connectivity and providing services such as data, voice and video to locations where existing broadband infrastructure is not available or affordable.
