OSBC to feature open source legal info, vendor products and services

The open source business conference in San Francisco this week promises to convey insight into building a business on open source software and how to mitigate associated open source legal risks.

Vendors showcased include Sun Microsystems, announcing the next stage of its OpenSparc initiative. OpenSparc is a program through which specifications are published for the UltraSparc T1 chip, enabling third parties to improve on the processor’s design.

Scalix is expected to announce its Scalix 10 e-mail and calendaring system for Linux. Scalix 10 improves the product’s enterprise appeal with high availability and the capability to perform cross-platform calendaring and scheduling. Enhanced rich e-mail clients also are featured, as is simplified administration.

To help companies better understand and reduce open source legal risks, Black Duck will unveil its “Enhanced Due Diligence” program. The program, which unites legal expertise and technology for automated code review and analysis, is intended for tech companies, law firms, and due diligence teams.
