PalmSource unveils an initiative to support the development of mobile apps based on Access Linux Platform

PalmSource has developed an open-source software library designed to help mobile-application developers create file systems based on the SQLite database.

PalmSource, which is a subsidiary of Japan’s Access Co., released the libsqlfs under a Lesser General Public License at the LinuxWorld Conference & Expo in San Francisco. The library is compliant with the OMA-DM (Open Mobile Alliance — Device Management) specification for cell phones.

The libsqlfs library was developed as a SQLite add-on for the Access Linux Platform. The library can store and retrieve application and system preferences stored inside the database. The library is available for download at: https://www.palmsource.com/opensource/downloads.html.

In addition to the release of libsqlfs, PalmSource and Access announced the establishment of the Access Developer Network, a company initiative to support the development of mobile applications based on the Access Linux Platform. The group will focus on helping new Linux developers and Palm OS developers produce mobile applications for Linux.
