New CEO Foo Piau Phang will help steer Hasee into international and corporate markets Foo Piau Phang, the former president of Dell’s Chinese operations, is taking over president and chief executive officer of notebook maker Shenzhen Hasee Computer Co.Foo resigned from Dell in October last year. At that time, the company did not offer a reason for Foo’s departure, other than to say he planned to take a “break” from his career.Hasee, which started off making graphics cards, has built a growing consumer PC business in China. Foo, who previously worked for Gateway and Hewlett-Packard, is charged with expanding that business to include corporate customers, the company said. Foo, a Singaporean and respected PC industry veteran, will also help steer Hasee into international markets. The company already has a foothold in South Korea’s PC market and plans to begin sales of its consumer notebooks in Germany from July, it said.Foo replaces company founder Wu Haijun as CEO of Hasee. Wu will serve as chairman of the company.Foo is not the only former Dell executive to take charge of a Chinese PC maker. In December, former Dell Asia-Pacific President Bill Amelio, and Foo’s former boss, left to take charge of Lenovo Group, a Chinese PC maker that has its headquarters in the U.S. Technology Industry
