NetCustomer will work with Ingres to develop migration tools NetCustomer, which provides support services to users of PeopleSoft and J.D. Edwards enterprise applications, will offer customers migration services to the Ingres 2006 open-source database, the company announced Monday.NetCustomer will work with Ingres to develop migration tools and the two will have a joint marketing strategy. Oracle last year acquired PeopleSoft, which had acquired J.D. Edwards.“We will eventually support the whole stack for our customers, which includes the application, middleware and the database,” said Punita Pandey, netCustomer’s chief executive officer. Most users of J.D. Edwards enterprise applications run them on databases other than Oracle’s and are worried about what the future may hold for them after the acquisition, according to Pandey. Many PeopleSoft users also run databases other than from Oracle, Pandey said. A segment of those who use Oracle’s database do not use all of its features and are looking at lower cost options, she added.NetCustomer announced in March that it would offer support services for PeopleSoft and J.D. Edwards enterprise applications at 50 percent cost savings compared to the annual maintenance and support contracts offered by Oracle.NetCustomer was an offshore support services contractor for PeopleSoft for more than four years. It set up an operation in Noida, India, in 2001 for PeopleSoft global support. The company was also offering services to customers of J.D. Edwards after PeopleSoft acquired the company.
