Former DT veteran Achim Berg takes spot at software giant Microsoft Corp. has selected a former executive of Deutsche Telekom AG and computer veteran to head its German operations.Achim Berg will take over as general manager of Microsoft Deutschland GmbH on Feb. 1, 2007, the German subsidiary said Tuesday.Berg will succeed interim general manager Klaus Holse Andersen, who took over the German operations after former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Jürgen Gallmann resigned last month over differences with the U.S. headquarters. Berg will report to Jean-Philippe Courtois, president of Microsoft International.Prior to his responsibility for sales and customer service at the landline T-Com division of Deutsche Telekom, Berg served as CEO of Fujitsu Siemens Computers GmbH, the German subsidiary of Fujitsu Siemens Computers (Holding) BV, and as sales director at Dell GmbH, the German subsidiary of Dell Inc.Established in 1993, Microsoft Deutschland currently employs around 2,000 people and operates six regional offices.
