NTT offers service designed to prevent sensitive corporate data from being leaked to outsiders

NTT Communications has extended to China a service that’s designed to prevent sensitive corporate information from being accidentally leaked to outsiders, the company said in a statement.

The service, which is offered alongside NTT Communications’ existing server-monitoring and antivirus services, is compatible with Japanese, English, Chinese, and Korean-language operating systems, the company said. Support for German and Spanish-language software will be added soon, it said.

The service is designed to prevent information leaks by monitoring networks and employee PCs for compliance with a company’s security guidelines. This is documented in monthly reports that are presented to the company, NTT Communications said.

When an employee breaches the security policy, a pop-up warning appears on the employee’s computer advising them that they have breached the guidelines.

In addition to China, the service is already available in Japan. NTT Communications plans to extend the service’s availability to include other countries in Asia, Europe and North America, it said. No timeframe was given for these expansion plans.

Setting up the service costs approximately ¥3 million ($25,545) and monthly operating fees start at ¥300,000, according to NTT Communications.
