Proposed code aims to refine procedures to ensure a high quality of service for users The European Registry of Internet Domain Names (Eurid), manager of the “.eu” top-level domain, is accepting public comments on a draft code of conduct for domain registrars.The code of conduct is a series of best practices that addresses issues such as filing complaints against registrars, Eurid said.Eurid has legal agreements with domain registrars, but the code of conduct goes beyond that, refining procedures to ensure a high quality of service for users, the registry said. Some of the public comments may be incorporated into the final text, which will come into effect March 29, said Patrik Lindén, Eurid communications manager. The deadline for comments is March 16. The code of conduct has been published online and comments can be sent to conduct@eurid.eu.It’s up to registrars whether they want to adopt the code. If they do, they can display an official “subscriber logo” on their Web site to show users they conform, Eurid said.A draft version was released to registrars in December.
