Portal planned as first step in community-building IBM on Monday will roll out developer resources for the company’s Power microprocessor architecture, with the goal of building what the company describes as a community of innovation around the platform.Resources are for both application and chip developers. Included will be a Power Architecture portal, technical training and software downloads for developers evaluating IBM middleware running on Linux and Power Architecture systems, which include the eServer iSeries and pSeries servers.The portal is to be the first step in building a broader community around the architecture, according to IBM. Developers using the portal can establish a governance model to guide future directions for innovation and collaboration, the company said. Also featured is Power Architecture Pack, a no-cost evaluation pack for designers to build custom Power chips in a simulation environment. The Power Architecture is used in systems ranging from games to PCs to servers and supercomputers, IBM said.
