GoodAccess products builds on mobile messaging platform

Good Technology on Monday launched GoodAccess, a middleware platform for accessing corporate data on wireless devices.

Lending their support to Good at the announcement were ISVs Oracle, Salesforce.com, and Siebel, who said their systems will connect to Good’s mobile deployment platform.

Through an agreement with Above All Software, GoodAccess will include Above All Studio . Studio, which is a development tool for assembling components from various enterprise applications and redeploying them as a composite application.

Roger Sippl, CEO at Above All, described these composite applications as “virtual applications” assembled from meta data descriptions. However, Sippl also said that in the future Above All will offer a server where these composite applications would reside.

Building connectors for large enterprises is not new, however, according to Joshua Greenbaum, principal analyst at Enterprise Applications Consulting.  The difference is in the “critical mass” of partners and infrastructure that Good created, Greenbaum said. Up until now most of the middleware wireless vendors have claimed that they can do it by themselves. Greenbaum said this was not realistic.

While Good’s new partners, Oracle, Salesforce.Com, and Siebel, also offer their own connectivity solutions between their enterprise applications and wireless devices, Danny Shader, CEO at Good, said only Good offers a complete solution that includes access to corporate e-mail.

“Without that, offering a mobile solution is like offering Microsoft Office without the word processor,” said Shader.

GoodAccess uses the same infrastructure as GoodLink, Good’s messaging platform.

GoodAccess can be deployed on both Palm and Microsoft Pocket PC with Symbian connectivity expected by next quarter.

GoodAccess will provide AES encryption, SSL, advanced password security, and the ability to erase data remotely in case a device is lost or stolen.

GoodAccess is shipping now. Pricing has not been announced.
