Version 9.0 of transaction-processing monitor is SOA-enabled

BEA systems on Monday will release an upgrade to its Tuxedo transaction-processing monitor and intends to feature it as a component of an SOA.

Tuxedo 9.0 enables the legacy product to participate in SOAs anchored by BEA’s Java products.

“The key focus is around service-enabling the enterprise for your traditional or procedural languages,” such as C, C++, and Cobol, which are used with Tuxedo, said George Gould, director of product marketing for Tuxedo at BEA.

Version 9.0 will link to an upgraded WebLogic Tuxedo Connector that will allow for dynamically adding services without halting the Tuxedo connection. The Connector will be part of BEA’s WebLogic Server 9.0 app server.

Expanded security capabilities in Tuxedo 9.0 include support for single sign-on, digital signatures, and PKI. Performance has been improved by 20 percent, BEA said.
