EMC collaboration software keeps projects in step Helping distributed teams get a better grip on projects, EMC last week introduced a new version of its EMC Documentum eRoom Enterprise collaboration software. Version 7.3 delivers automated dashboards designed to increase visibility of project status across multiple workspaces. The new software also gains integrated IM tools and the capability to link in to an existing IM infrastructure. Tighter ties to the EMC Documentum Content Server and a new Linked Folder allow automatic content synchronization and project team notification of new content. Linux e-mail server readied IceWarp Software next month will ship the Merak E-mail Server Suite for Linux-based networks. Merak for Linux will feature anti-virus and anti-spam tools, groupware, and IM. It will be packaged in three configurations: for small businesses, medium to large enterprises, and ISPs. The suite has been certified for use with Linux Red Hat, as well as Suse, Mandrake, Debian, Gentoo, and Ubuntu, among others. Merak for Linux is available now for a full preview prior to its official availability in September. Licenses can be used on Linux or Windows, enabling seamless switching between each OS. WatchGuard aims SSL VPN at SMBs WatchGuard Technologies last week announced the availability of the WatchGuard Firebox SSL Core VPN Gateway. The product combines Citrix’s SSL VPN secure access technology and the Citrix Access Gateway with WatchGuard’s Firebox hardware platform. The bundle is targeted at SMBs, supports as many as 205 concurrent users, and comes with WatchGuard’s LiveSecurity Service. LogicLibrary to help developers build a better SOA LogicLibrary in October will roll out Logidex ARV (Asset Relationship Visualization), a software-development asset management tool intended to enable architects, developers, and analysts to understand relationships in enterprise architecture and SOA initiatives. The product, to be delivered as an Eclipse plug-in, helps users understand how IT development projects relate to existing projects as well as business processes, the company said.
