HP secures networking gear, Packeteer updates appliance, IXIASOFT releases new version of XML database, and Lucid8 issues new Exchange management software HP fills in networking lineup Hewlett-Packard’s ProCurve networking group last week enhanced its line of network hardware and software products by improving LAN, WAN, and WLAN security perimeters, as well as adding additional features. The new ProCurve Secure Router 7000dl series connects enterprise branch offices to a headquarters site at the WAN edge, providing edge-to-edge connectivity. The router adds security to restrict unauthorized access and offers wire-speed performance with integrated convergence features. The Access Controller Module for the ProCurve Switch 5300xl enables a wireless network edge to provide secure, mobile, and appropriate access to multiple services across a single network. The ProCurve Secure Router 7000dl and Access Controller Module will be available in April, priced at $1,499 and $5,499, respectively. ProCurve Secure Router and Access Controller Module Hewlett-Packard Packeteer manages WAN apps traffic Packeteer this week will announce the PacketShaper 1200, an appliance for managing WAN application traffic at remote and branch offices. The $2,150 appliance is designed to deliver monitoring, control, and compression at speeds between 128Kbps and 2Mbps; to identify and respond to suspicious network hosts; to provide per-flow data on hosts and applications to troubleshoot network issues; and to enable the rollout of new applications, including VoIP. PacketShaper 1200 Packeteer Ixiasoft refreshes XML database Ixiasoft last week launched TextML Server 3.5, an upgrade to the company’s native XML database and search engine designed to store, index, and retrieve XML content. Version 3.5 of the server gains TextML Universal Converter, an XML tool that can convert more than 220 data types into structured XML documents. Also new is a native .Net API that eases the deployment of apps developed with TextML Universal Converter, Server. Support for XPath enables flexibility in populating indexes. TextML Server 3.5 Ixiasoft Lucid8 unveils Exchange software Lucid8 this month rolled out GOexchange 3.1, an updated version of the preventative maintenance software for Exchange Server. Designed to ease maintenance, boost performance, and reduce storage requirements, GOexchange analyzes, rebuilds, and optimizes each database. New configuration tools allow administrators to select maintenance by server, storage group, or individual store.
