HP adds to Edge device lineup, Groove issues templates, Gupta boosts 4GL, and Inter-Tel announces two new collaboration products HP Pushes the Edge Hewlett-Packard has announced its ProCurve Edge Architecture, designed to deliver aggregation and core networking functionality for Edge-enabled networks. The architecture includes the ProCurve Edge Fabric, a family of Ethernet LAN interconnect devices designed for users who want to optimize Edge networks, enhancements to its existing Switch 9300 series, and the ProCurve Switch 6400cl series, a family of high-performance 10 Gigabit Ethernet wire-speed aggregators. HP’s ProCurve Edge Fabric line is expected to be available in mid-2005, and the ProCurve Switch 6400cl series of stackable switches is slated for this spring. The ProCurve Switch 10G Copper 6400cl-6XG has an estimated price of $5,429, while the ProCurve Switch 10G X2 6410cl-6XG carries a $8,099 price tag. ProCurve Edge Architecture, HPGroove Unveils Collaboration Templates Groove Networks last month rolled out Rapid Solutions Exchange, a set of more than 20 downloadable templates that provide ready to use forms for use with Groove Virtual Office collaboration software. Designed to get Groove users up and running quickly with ways to apply Virtual Office to their business processes, the templates include Asset Request, Annual Marketing Programs, Corporate Security, HR Tracker, Incident Command System, Sales Team, Status Reports, and Time Cards. Rapid Solutions Exchange, Groove NetworksGupta Readies Team Developer 2005 Tool for Windows, Linux Gupta Technologies in January plans to issue an updated 4GL-based development product, Team Developer 2005, which adds Linux as a deployment platform. The 2005 version enables applications to be written for Linux variants from Red Hat, Suse, and Novell. Gupta claims its 4GL system makes developers more productive than Java or .Net. Team Developer features a project management system that enables developer collaboration. A special promotion edition of the Linux version will be available for $995 through May 31, 2005. Team Developer, Gupta Technologies Inter-Tel Adds to Collaboration Wares Inter-Tel last month rolled out two collaboration offerings: Linktivity WebDemo 4.0 software for real-time Web conferencing and collaboration, and WebInteractive 4.0 collaboration software for support and online sales. New features in Linktivity WebDemo include SSL support; 128-bit encryption; authentication through Windows, LDAP, or Radius; and improved search and query capabilities. WebInteractive 4.0 also includes SSL support and 128-bit encryption, an enhanced user interface, and integration APIs.
