Bundle can be used to offer e-mail, directory, file sharing, other collaborative services Open-Xchange on Wednesday, together with new partner Red Hat, announced a discounted bundle of open-source products that can be used to offer e-mail, directory, file sharing, and other collaborative services.The move comes as Open-Xchange, launched in 2004 in Olpe, Germany, seeks a niche in the competitive market for alternative open-source products.For $1,150, Open-Xchange is offering three software products: the open-source operating system Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat Application Server, and Open-Xchange 5, an open-source collaboration platform. If sold separately, the products would cost a total $2,198, according to company spokesman Christian Egle.The products can be purchased at the company’s Web site: www.open-xchange.com.Until now, Open-Xchange 5 has run only on SuSE Linux, a competitor to Red Hat.
