Pantech to sell Windows Mobile smart phone

Handset based on Windows Mobile 2003, XScale chip

Pantech will begin selling a Windows Mobile-based smart phone in South Korea later this month, the company said Monday.

The PH-S8000T is based on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile 2003 Second Edition operating system and Intel’s XScale Bulverde processor. Other features include a 1.3-megapixel camera and an MP3 music player. It measures 92 millimeters by 49 mm by 26 mm and weighs 141 grams.

The phone, which will be sold under Pantech’s Curitel brand-name through SK Telecom, is compatible with the CDMA2000 1x EvDO cellular standard. It will cost about 450,000 won to 500,000 won ($434 to $482), Pantech said.
