Service is undergoes significant upgrade

Microsoft is giving users a peek at the enhancements it is planning for its MSN Shopping comparison-shopping Web site, including broader product selection, RSS alerts, ratings and reviews and improved search functionality.

Users can test drive those and other new features at the latest beta version of MSN Shopping, which Microsoft announced Monday and which can be found at http://beta.shopping.msn.com/.

“This is MSN Shopping’s most significant upgrade in years, and includes a variety of new features that help consumers quickly and easily find what they are looking for amidst our significantly expanded selection of products and offers,” wrote Chris Jolley, MSN Shopping’s group programming manager, in the official MSN Shopping blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/msnshoppinginsider/default.aspx

MSN Shopping competes against various comparison-shopping sites including Shopping.com, which eBay is in the process of acquiring, Shopzilla.com, Yahoo’s Yahoo Shopping, NexTag.com, Altura International’s Shop.com, Google’s Froogle, Pricegrabber.com. and America Online Inc.’s InStore.com.
