Portal vendor partners with Fuego for business process technology

Plumtree Software later this year plans to introduce a BPM server to its lineup of portal, collaboration, and search offerings.

Through an OEM partnership with Fuego, Plumtree will re-brand and integrate the FuegoBPM product with the Plumtree line of products.

“Having process management technology rounds out our offering and we feel that it is one of the foundational services for building composite applications,” said Christine Wan, product line marketing manager at Plumtree.

Portal deployments have matured during the past several years. Early portals were a place for static information such as HR documents and corporate policies. The technology then moved into supporting collaboration communities and eventually developed into composite applications, the phase it is now, Wan said.

“Composite applications are about using the portal as a platform for delivering new types of business applications not covered by traditional packaged apps like CRM and ERP,” Wan said.

“We see Plumtree as a middle ground for delivering new business applications that involve processes,” Wan said.

Examples of process-driven applications include purchase requisition, automating paper forms, new employee on-boarding, and loan originations for retail banks.

The Plumtree Process Server will be available later this year. Exact timing of the release was not given.
