Products aim to smooth linking of identities across multiple sites and applications

Sun Microsystems unwrapped two new identity management products this week, designed to ease the process of federating identity across multiple partners and customers.

The Sun Java System Federation Manager can be used to build federated identity and authentication services between two or more partners. Using identity standards such as SAML and the Liberty Alliance’s ID-FF (Identity Federation Framework), Federation Manager automatically links identities across multiple sites and applications. It also provides single log-out capabilities across multiple environments.

Designed for high-volume extranet environments with millions of users, the Sun Java System Identity Manager Service Provider Edition offers reusable identity administration capabilities designed to make it less expensive and easier to build new applications and services. It also automates the setup and management of federated accounts.
