EMC buys specialist in managed services for Microsoft systems and applications

Storage titan EMC has strengthened its professional services team with the acquisition of Internosis, a specialist in Microsoft systems and applications.

Internosis delivers IT strategy, application development, IT infrastructure, and managed services for Microsoft environments to companies primarily in North America, EMC said in a statement Monday.

The acquisition, whose financial terms weren’t disclosed, is “a key step in EMC’s professional services evolution,” as Internosis will become the Microsoft Practice within EMC Technology Solutions, EMC’s professional services organization, said EMC, based in Hopkington, Massachusetts.

Specifically, EMC expects the Internosis acquisition will allow it to speed up customer adoption of its information life-cycle management services for tracking the flow, usage and storage of documents and data in an enterprise. With Internosis, EMC also hopes to improve the services it offers for Microsoft-based environments.

Internosis, privately held and based in Greenbelt, Maryland, employs about 250 service professionals, while EMC’s services team is staffed by about 9,000, according to EMC.
