Company plans to increase Bangalore staff to more than 80

Interwoven Inc. is expanding the staff and the scope of its development and technical support subsidiary in Bangalore, India, the company said Tuesday.

The company currently employs about 35 development staff at the center and is planning to increase that to more than 80 by the end of next year, said Narsing Rao, head of the Indian subsidiary, Interwoven Software Services India Pvt. Ltd. “We have 30 open positions right now,” he added. The number of technical support staff will also be increased from 15 to 25 by the end of next year, Rao said.

Interwoven has set up a new 30,000 square foot (2,787 square meters) facility in Bangalore that will serve as a hub for product development, product feature development and enhancement, quality assurance, and 24-hour technical support for Interwoven’s customers worldwide, Rao said.

Interwoven, of Sunnyvale, California, provides enterprise content management software. The company currently employs 200 development staff worldwide, Rao said.

The center in Bangalore will have full responsibility for new releases of Interwoven’s MetaTagger Content Intelligence Server, and will also work on the company’s business process management line of products, Rao said.

The center is the first Interwoven product development center outside the U.S., Rao said. The center became part of Interwoven after the company’s acquisition in December 2003 of Component Insights India Pvt. Ltd., a 20-person software development company based in Bangalore.

Interwoven was testing the waters until recently, and the activity at the design center is now seeing a pick up, Rao said
