BMC acquires call center and help desk software maker

BMC Software said Tuesday it has acquired one of its partners, call center and help desk software maker KMXperts. Financial terms of the deal were undisclosed.

KMXperts’ Knowledge Management for Remedy software works with the Remedy service management software that BMC bought in 2002. KMXperts’ software pulls together enterprise information to help service personnel address customer issues faster and more easily. The company also offers Web self-service functionality to help customers answer their own questions.

Based in American Fork, Utah, KMXperts was a small, privately held company with around 50 customers. BMC said it will plug KMXperts’ technology directly into its own portfolio, adding KMXperts’ natural-language search functionality and customer self-service applications to its Remedy software suite. KMXperts’ technology will also be available for use with BMC’s Magic line of service applications.
