Qualys Hardens Vulnerability Management Software

Qualys this week is releasing version 4 of its QualysGuard vulnerability-management software designed to enable security managers to audit and enforce internal and external policies. This version includes a policy-compliance SDK and application library, a self-service MasterCard SDP (Site Data Protection) module, and a real-time executive dashboard. Along with the SDK, Qualys is including a library of prebuilt applications that allow customers to determine the security status of specific corporate assets and compare them to internal policies and external standards. In addition to new compliance capabilities, QualysGuard 4.0 includes a new executive dashboard to simplify security management. Available at the end of this month, QualysGuard Express packages start at $1,495 and QualysGuard Enterprise packages start at $17,000.

Qualys Guard 4, Qualys HP Taps Linux for NAS

Hewlett-Packard next month will launch an enterprise-quality NAS device that runs on Linux and is managed using HP’s StorageWorks Grid software. The new StorageWorks NAS server will be based on HP’s ProLiant server design and will have a larger storage capacity than its current line of NAS products, the company said. HP’s own StorageWorks Grid software, in conjunction with the ProLiant’s computing power, will enable the NAS servers to manage each other.

iPass last week updated its Endpoint Policy Management offering. IT can use the new Policy Orchestration capabilities to bring remote and mobile devices into compliance with end-point software policies. The Endpoint Policy Management Enterprise service enables customers to upgrade and distribute software, remove rogue applications, and enforce required security on remote PCs before granting them access to a corporate network through the VPN. Endpoint Policy Management service is available now, stand-alone or as an add-on to iPass Corporate Access.

Endpoint Policy Management, iPass OpTier Tackles Transaction Workloads

Last week OpTier unveiled CoreFirst, software designed to give transaction-level visibility to multitiered workloads during production. To do so, CoreFirst tracks transactions across IT tiers so users can map IT topologies, locate problems, and assess the potential impact that issues may have on business. With that information, customers can prioritize business needs and allocate IT resources accordingly. The company claims that CoreFirst is available for multiple pervasive computing platforms.
