SYBASE AT ITS TechWave 2002 conference in San Diego on Monday announced availability of a beta version of its PowerBuilder 9.0 development tool. The upgrade features XML, JSP, and third-party application server support for BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere, Sybase said. Developers can build for and deploy into multi-architectural environments such as distributed, Web, and client-server systems. The XML DataWindow capability in Version 9.0 imports data directly from an XML document and saves data that was retrieved from any data source as a customizable XML document. Through support of JSP, developers can develop a JSP Web application through wizards and other RAD tools, according to Sybase. PowerBuilder 9.0 also will support the Microsoft .Net development framework, with this functionality appearing in a later beta release. Web services enablement in the form of SOAP and WSDL support also is planned for a subsequent beta. PowerBuilder 9.0 is slated for general availability in the first half of 2003. Software Development
