XARA ONLINE, BASED in San Francisco and in Hemel Hempstead, United Kingdom, launched this week an SMS (Short Messaging Service) management application built as a Web service and postable by Web masters on their sites. The application, Group SMS Personal, will allow companies to create unique directories consisting of members of a workgroup, allowing a manager to write a single message and send it out en masse to members of the workgroup. The application will work on desktops as well as cell phones, allowing a manager to write the message once and send it to the SMS application residing on the server, which will in turn trigger the routing of the message to the selected recipients. The application uses Xara Modules which allow non-technical staff to access a database, e-mail, and the SMS features in order to create a Web-based application.
