SPS COMMERCE, A supply-chain integration vendor, rolled out a new service Tuesday designed to allow large retailers to electronically automate their private label order management process with vendors and suppliers. The new process works by creating electronic versions of the documents used by retailers to handle private orders. Once developed, both the retailers and partners such as fabric manufacturers, packagers, consolidators, and shippers will have access to the order status, next steps, and real-time status updates via the Web, according to officials from St. Paul, Minn.-based SPS Commerce. The service includes a library of rules to define orders, a change manager to validate changes to private order documents, and a message manager to generate automatic e-mail updates and warnings once an order change has been validated. The service will be available in February. Software Development
