SQL Anywhere Studio database being fitted to OS

Mobile software developer iAnywhere Solutions  is working with SuSE Linux to tailor its SQL Anywhere Studio database to SuSE’s server operating system software.

IAnywhere, a Dublin, California-based subsidiary of Sybase, will coordinate with SuSE to track ongoing Linux development at SuSE and to optimize iAnywhere’s SQL Anywhere Studio for SuSE’s Linux Enterprise Server 8.

IAnywhere hopes the alliance will help it reach more customers in the growing market of large organizations deploying Linux, the company said.

IAnywhere released in June version 9 of SQL Anywhere Studio, adding a cache management system and other features to boost the software’s scalability. Linux support will be added to the software in the fourth quarter this year, according to a spokeswoman. SQL Anywhere Studio will support Linux distributions from SuSE, Red Hat, MandrakeSoft The SCO Group and TurboLinux.
