eXcelon announces XML database, dev tools

SOFTWARE VENDOR EXCELON on Monday announced availability of eXtensible Information Server (XIS) 3.12, a native XML database that can be used in long-running business transactions connecting multiple systems. XIS 3.12 boosts XML-based interoperability across .Net and J2EE environments while delivering standards-based access to XML business documents with XQuery support and Verity full-text search, eXcelon said. XML business documents can be dynamically extended while providing granular access to elements of information contained in the documents. Customers can create, audit, and change transaction gateway and Web service applications in response to changing business conditions. XIS 3.12 will ship in 30 days. The company also announced Stylus Studio 4.5, a set of XML XSLT (Extensible Stylesheet Language Transformation) development tools for building and debugging applications bridging J2EE and .Net environments. Developers can generate XSLT stylesheets from HTML pages. Version 4.5 also includes an XQuery editor, debugger, and processor for building and debugging applications with intelligent XML search capabilities. Additionally, developers can build Web services application by ensuring the reliability of XML and XSLT across J2EE and .Net platforms, according to Burlington, Mass.-based eXcelon. Stylus Studio 4.5 will be available within 30 days, with pricing starting at $399 for a single-user license.
