EPHOX ON MONDAY introduced EditLive for Java 2.0, a Web-based content authoring application designed to let non-technical users develop and update Web content in a word processor-like environment. Version 2.0 adds support for XML, support for the WebDAV (Web-based distributed authoring and versioning) protocol, and new customization features. The new XML support allows XML tags to be inserted into XHTML-compliant content, which enables content to be transformed using different templates for specific scenarios or devices, according to Ephox officials in San Francisco. The WebDAV interface lets users browse repositories that support WebDAV such as Stellent, Microsoft IIS, Apache, or Oracle. EditLive for Java 2.0 also lets users add custom toolbar and menu options to customize the interface to fit a content management system or CRM system.
