Company also expands program via partnerships ComponentSource has purchased Flashline’s Marketplace in a move that both companies claim validates the momentum of application component reuse. The two companies will jointly announce the deal on Wednesday, but the transition began Monday, according to officials.Flashline’s Marketplace is an online site reselling application components; the acquired site complements Component Source’s own online component house. ComponentSource will pull Flashline’s marketplace into its own.“Flashline had quite a bit of good Java components, [authors and ISVs]. That is something we’ve been working to increase,” said Sam Patterson, CEO of ComponentSource, in Kennesaw, Ga.ComponentSource gains access to Flashline’s 15,000 customers, 500 products, and hundreds of component ISV’s, Patterson said. The move leaves Flashline freer to concentrate on its core competencies, according to Charles Stack, CEO of Cleveland, Ohio-based Flashline.“This lets us focus where we were clearly having the most success,” Stack said. “We can continue to expand the concept of asset management. As a sign of maturity in an industry, specialization is a good thing.”Also under the deal, ComponentSource via its Web site will offer Flashline’s CMEE repository for reusable assets. The CMEE product complements ComponentSource’s own reuse solution since CMEE is installable and Save-IT is hosted. As part of its ongoing attempt to broaden the reach of software reuse, ComponentSource on Monday announced that it has aligned with four new partners who will resell its Save-IT product: ICS Solutions, Select Business Solutions, and Trireme International.
