TSMC's November sales were up 31 percent compared to last year

Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (TSMC), the world’s largest contract chip maker, said on Thursday that its monthly sales for November reached an all-time high as customers continued to increase demand.

The company is seen as a bellwether for the global technology industry because it produces chips for a wide range of gadgets, including game consoles, mobile phones, personal computers, digital cameras, and MP3 players.

In November, TSMC’s sales reached a record-high NT$27.5 billion (US$822.5 million), up 31 percent compared to the same month last year and topping its previous peak of NT$26.2 billion in October.

November is often the peak sales month for chip and component suppliers because electronics makers need to finish products and have them on store shelves for the holiday shopping season in December.

The company’s sales for the first 11 months of the year totaled NT$237.2 billion, leaving it just NT$18.8 billion away from beating its record for full year revenue, NT$256 billion, set last year.
