System to be based on HP OpenView

Tibco is partnering with Hewlett-Packard to develop a Web services-based process management offering enabling joint customers to integrate and optimize infrastructure alerts and business process management alerts, according to Tibco.

To be based on the HP Openview services management system, the solution is intended to provide customers with the ability to adapt to changing market conditions and make decisions on service levels in real-time. The companies plan to produce a Web services-based solution that enables customers to gain immediate insight into information flow between business processes across the enterprise, Tibco said.

Tibco this week also is announcing software for leveraging investments in XML enterprise metadata. Tibco XML Canon 2.4 enables management of XML metadata, which is data about the methodology behind a data set, to boost business integration, the company said. The software uses a “canonical” data model that maps metadata against a central repository or “canon.”

Applications can use or reuse the metadata without concern as to how the metadata affects other applications. Business users access and use the same meta-tagged information in multiple systems to reduce costs of duplicate data. Based on XML, the software helps users spot data dependencies, conflicts, and issues and perform impact analyses.

Additionally, the software boosts the integration of disparate IT systems through shared XML vocabularies and metadata.
