Company trying to drive adoption of NetWeaver within Java community

SAP has upgraded its Web Application Server to support J2EE (Java 2 Enterprise Edition) Version 1.3 and introduced a new Java development environment, it said Tuesday at the JavaOne developer conference in San Francisco.

The company is trying to drive adoption of its NetWeaver integration and application environment within the Java community, it said in a statement.

The integrated development environment, SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio, has been developed as an open environment for Java-based applications, SAP said. It is based on the open source Eclipse platform.

SAP has also established Integration and Certification Centers where third-party J2EE applications can be deployed and tested on the SAP Web Application Server. The centers will also test integration scenarios between SAP software and third party applications, SAP said.
