TRUESAN NETWORKS ON Monday announced that its Cloudbreak storage operating system now manages Fibre Channel products from McData. As a member of McData’s OpenReady developer’s program, TrueSAN will use its access to McData APIs to add management capabilities for McData products in future versions and upgrades of Cloudbreak, according to TrueSAN representatives in San Jose, Calif. McData’s Fibre Channel switches and directors will be included within the management framework of Cloudbreak, giving TrueSAN customers the option of integrating McData products into their Fibre Channel SANs (storage area networks) with the least amount of management headaches, according to TrueSAN. For Broomfield, Colo.-based McData, being part of TrueSAN Cloudbreak OS means being part of one of only two storage operating systems currently available that offers data management, SRM (storage resource management), virtualization, and storage network monitoring under a single, intuitive management GUI, according to Arun Taneja, a senior analyst at Enterprise Storage Group in Milford, Mass. Only Fujitsu Softek, in Sunnyvale, Calif., offers equal functionality with its Storage Manager OS, Taneja said.
