Filter, view, and export tools to be embedded in enterprise apps

Enterprise search vendor Verity this week will launch Version 7.4 of its KeyView software development kits designed for exporting, viewing, and filtering data.

KeyView is designed to be integrated with enterprise applications via programming languages such as Java, C, COM, and the Unicode character set standard. The new release also includes support for Linux, Unix, and Windows Server 2003.

KeyView is targeted at the increased need to view and track the growing amounts of e-mail messages, reports, presentations, and other data sets. Its SDKs allow users to access information in more than 295 file formats and 70 languages, according to Verity officials.

The kits include the KeyView Export SDK, which dynamically converts multiple file formats into valid XML or Web-ready HTML format; the KeyView Viewing SDK, which enables viewing and printing documents without requiring installation of the native application; and the KeyView Filter SDK, which allows applications to extract text and metadata from documents in multiple formats for use in searching, indexing, and document management systems.

The SDKs are used in a variety of applications, such as compliance-related apps, messaging, CRM, and content management, according to David How, senior product manager of OEM products at Verity.

For example, the swelling ranks of vendors offering compliance applications need to provide capabilities to ensure that certain user information doesn’t leave the organization. Verity KeyView SDKs can be used to search text to find sensitive information, How said.

“We are seeing more and more OEMs in the compliance space that need [the capability] to crack open e-mail messages or files to view or extract the text,” How said.
