Software designed to help customers better monitor Web sites

As an option to its Web hosting services, Electronic Data Systems (EDS) now resells Web site analysis software from Maxamine.

The Maxamine Knowledge Platform software is designed to help companies monitor and maintain their Web sites, by doing things like mapping navigation paths, checking links, indexing and time-stamping content (such as pages, images, documents and links) and generating a variety of reports.

Companies can use this information to make their sites more effective and reduce maintenance, EDS and Maxamine said Thursday. Maxamine, based in San Ramon, Calif., offers its software via an application service provider (ASP) model.

This represents an extension of the companies’ relationship, which dates back to 1997 and includes a joint service launched in December 2002 called EDS/Maxamine Website Scorecard, which generates reports about a Web site’s strengths and weaknesses.

EDS, based in Plano, Texas, is the world’s second largest provider of IT services.
