PRISMTECH ON TUESDAY announced its acquisition of Vertel’s CORBA business unit, including the eORB embedded, real-time object request broker. The eORB technology becomes part of the PrismTech OpenFusion family of CORBA products, providing a small-footprint ORB to the Prismtech Total CORBA Solution (TCS) portfolio, the company said. CORBA is the technology of choice for mission-critical, memory-efficient systems in industries such as telecommunications, defense, avionic systems, and health care, according to PrismTech. TCS features ORBs for C++, Java, and C; common object services such as Notification, Logging, and Trading; and connectivity products linking CORBA to J2EE, Web services, and proprietary environments including Tibco.
