Flaw causes some users to be repeatedly prompted to register software

A new bug has been reported in Microsoft’s Office 2000 software that can lead to some users being repeatedly prompted to register the program, a company representative confirmed Friday.

The glitch may affect all users, the representative said, but users who don’t have administrative rights may receive it again when they relaunch the application because they don’t have the ability to click through the dialog box.

Microsoft is “taking the problem very seriously” and working to address it, the company representative said. The company expects to fix the problem shortly.

The problem was first reported to Microsoft earlier this week, the representative said.

While not a major issue, the bug, like many of multilegged creatures of the same name, can be annoying. It does not, however, interfere with users’ ability to use the application.
