Proposed standard makes CORBA, Web services interoperate

See correction below

The Object Management Group adopted the CORBA to WSDL-SOAP Interworking specification in November.

According to OMG officials, the specification is intended to boost interoperability  between CORBA and Web services applications.

“This maps CORBA invocation and lets you convert [it] into a standard way to WSDL and SOAP,” said Jon Siegel, OMG vice president of technology transfer.

A complementary specification, WSDL-SOAP to CORBA Interworking, which converts WSDL and SOAP to CORBA, is expected to be adopted in a couple of months.

“Once that gets adopted, then the interworking between CORBA and Web services will be complete,” Siegel said.

In this article, the date OMG adopted the CORBA to WSDL-SOAP Interworking specification was originally incorrect.
